I'm a big fan of this! My biggest note is that you should readjust the proportions of the crops so that there's even more wheat. Maybe add the top right section to the wheat area and put the other 5 crops in the remaining area to the bottom right?
Hi Lem! Thanks for the quick feedback. I've expanded the wheat fields - atm it's just harvested, but I can change it if you want a full field of grown plants.

Small update: with Aferys's septry done and Vis's castle underway, the main River Road valley is starting to near completion! I'm currently updating timber and plaster patterns to include the new blocks, and the "final" stages will involve terra clean up, forests, and the ruining of Tarbeck Hall!

However, there's still a lot left to be done in Hornvale. Just a reminder that orange plots are open for building unless there's a tag saying "special" or "ask to build" (or they're a bridge), and there are a number of open house/building plots throughout the valley (but mostly behind the castle on the eastern side of the lake). I'd also greatly appreciate someone taking one or two of the WIP storage buildings in the vineyard!

Here are the open minis in Hornvale:

/warp hvlogging - A logging camp with accompanying lumber mill. They practice selective logging and supply lumber throughout Hornvale lands. The camp should have permanent (or at least long term) structures/buildings rather than tents.

/warp hvfarm2 - A flax farm with a nearby farming hamlet. You have the freedom to plan that entire side of the river bend if you want. Good for builders looking for experience with plotting and builder feedback!

/warp hvmine - A gold mine.

/warp hvquarry - A limestone quarry. Include work buildings.

Hi all!

I’m happy to announce that after nearly four years Sarsfield Castle is complete and ready for post-approval! I thank you Lem for your patience in waiting all this time to see it done, and also all the builders who have helped me along the way.

I want to give a special shoutout to Mayflumes who was my partner at the beginning of this mini and unfortunately is no longer active on the server, I do think and hope he’d love it as much as I do, and also to Everlast who helped me a great deal, especially at the end I’d never finish this up if it wasn’t for him.

I await your feedback Lem!

Overall, it looks good to me! Just one question: when are you headcanoning the Sarsfields as being loyal to the Targaryens? Because they really seem like Lannister loyalists to me

Oh it was merely a personal touch I was running out of ideas for that room, I could've just made it as a Lannister reference indeed, in case you're referring to the flag stored in the attic. It has already been fixed!

Whoops, I had one more bit of feedback. I thought I edited my post last night but it doesn't seem to have stuck.

My only other thing to change has to do with the more intricate rocks you've done at the base of the castle. I like the idea, but they're perhaps a bit overdone and they look very different from the surrounding mountainous area. Additionally, they're mostly only concentrated in the front of the castle. if you're making the rocky base more intricate, it should be that way on all sides of the castle. And finally, I like the dark terrainset, but I've generally used alt terrainset for the darker parts of stony terrain. Could you see what it would look like with alt or at least try doing a transition from dark to alt to regular terrainset?

Hi there,

I am applying for the Hornvale quarry mini. I have attached a rough layout of the mini, as well as a few screenshots of the test. Lem and I have discussed in-game the general idea for the quarry and I'd like to thank her for the advice. The test in full can be found at /warp cdogz.

hvquarry outline.png
The quarry will cut into the lower side of the hill. The hill itself is quite steep, so the red outline of the quarry above can't cut too far into the mountain without the quarry having to get too big. The work area will have a few buildings for the quarry. A small stable for donkeys, storage for tools, as well as places for the quarry workers and the stonecutter building where the large blocks of stone from the quarry are tended to.

This is a small example of the quarry itself.

View from above.png
A birds eye view of the test, the red wool denotes the three levels of the quarry, the yellow wool is for cranes and the purple is a rough outline of the quarry's buildings.

This is my first mini so I hope it's okay! Would really love any feedback :)

Hi CDogz, congrats on your first mini app! This is a good start. I'm quite happy with your quarry plans and crane tests, but the buildings need some work. At the moment, their layouts and design are rather uninspired. I don't need buildings like these to be all that fancy, but I would like to see a considered use of space (both in terms of how they fit in the landscape and a sense of functionality inside). In particular, the two smaller buildings feel way too small to be useful, and both those and the larger one are very flat. Also, please don't use thatch for the roof. It's way overused as a roof material in the area surrounding the quarry. Wood or slate/tile would work much better.

Hi Lem!

I am applying for the flax farm at Hornvale. Since the Westerlands are known for its hills, I built the fields on the side of the mountain. First I terraformed the area by hand to smooth out the terrain making feel more natural. Then I made the fields follow the natural curve of the mountain. As discussed in-game, the farm can be extended east (right-hand side) to add more fields.

To the Southwest are the worker's living spaces. I imagine a family with an uncle or cousins would tend to this flax farm. There are three houses I plan to build in that area following the style guide at /warp hornvale. They also have a yard for a garden and a chicken coop to sustain themselves. To the east is the work area. It has an area outside the buildings for workers to thresh the flax separating the seeds from the stalks. The stalks would then be used for linens or rope while the seeds can be sold or turned into oil. The larger building would be used as the main workshop for producing these goods while the smaller building would be a place to store equipment and serve as a workshop to fix tools and other things needed on the farm.

Hi Cris, Thanks for answering the call! Can I see some quick facade tests for the main buildings? Also, for a farmstead like this, I typically like to have a main residence building, perhaps with some separate residences for paid help further away. What was the thought behind multiple smaller residences in the farm complex?

Announcing a new mini with creative storytelling elements!!!!!

It's a tannery (/warp hvtannery) where mysterious disappearances have been occurring. There should be notes from people trying to figure out what is going on and an odd blood trail heading into the woods behind the tannery (northeast ridge). The trail leads to a big cave in the side of the mountain. It's inhabitant doesn't appear to be in at the moment, but sure has been eating.

Just a reminder that orange plots are open for building and "special" builds and bridges are on an "ask to build" basis. I'd also greatly appreciate someone taking one or two of the WIP storage buildings in the vineyard!
