Let the Blood Season begin!

As many of you are aware, and as announced in the latest Fire & Blood Season post, we have been preparing the ground for a reproduction of the infamous battle of the Blackwater. Largest confrontation of the War of the Five Kings, it opposes Stannis Baratheon to the bastard king, Joffrey Lann… *cough* Baratheon and the forces of King’s Landing.
Mixing naval skirmishes, a wild explosion, multiple encounters in and outside the city, and a final charge on the shores of the Blackwater, that battle was the climax of the war.

After the anniversary games and very positive feedback we received for organizing these, we thought it would be great to organize regular events for the community. Hopefully, this will meet your expectations!
The whole game will be split into a dozen games and various activities, made to recreate the whole series of events occurring during that battle. From PVE to building competition, PVP to a fiery parkour, everybody will find something to their taste (and skills)! And there might even be some rewards for the best knights of WesterosCraft.

To this date, the events will take place this month and up to early September.
Please fill out the poll to choose the dates where most people are available (2 will be picked in the 3):
  • Saturday 20th of August, 8PM GMT
  • Saturday 27th of August, 8PM GMT
  • Saturday 3rd of September, 8PM GMT

Some more instructions will come later to help you prepare the battle.
Until then, a final push is required to get the battle ground ready, and even add a forgotten piece of King’s Landing sprawl in production.

We are looking for someone to make a small immersion for the ferry hamlet on the southern shore of KL (and North of the God’s Wood). That village should have a few docks for the ferry, along with a few houses, inns, taverns, cartwrights, etc. All you need for travelers that arrived on the King’s Road from the Stormlands. That immersion will be used directly for the production world, and a copy will be made for the battleground as well.
Don’t hesitate to help us on that! We will wait for applications up to next week or will do it ourselves if no one came up.

Ring the bells and draw your sword, as the clash of kings has finally arrived!

“Don’t fight for your king, don’t fight for his kingdoms, don’t fight for honor, don’t fight for glory, don’t fight for riches because you won’t get any. This is your city Stannis means to sack, your gate he’s ramming. If he gets in, it will be your houses he burns, your gold he steals, your women he will rape. Those are brave men knocking at our door. Let’s go kill them!” Tyrion Lannister

The first part of our 2-weeks Battle of the Blackwater community event is due today, 8 PM GMT.

6 games will be hosted, where you will be able to test your PvP skills and many others:
- Prepare for battle: search game
- Naval battle: shooting fight
- Naval battle: boarding & capture the flags
- Brawl in Fleabottom
- Build contest: siege camp
- Siege at the King's Gate

As for the riches, there might be some rewards for the best of us! So make sure to take part and do your best ;)

Here are some instructions to prepare for our event that you can already read:
- all of the games will be in survival (gm 0), you can/have to stay in survival for the whole duration of the event. Use spectator mode (gm 3) only when you are dead and cannot go back to the game (for example if it's a 1-life game).
- no night vision, no mini-map (you can deactivate it with CTRL+J / CMD+J). Games also indicate a Time and Weather conditions to improve immersion, make sure to follow them for fairness! You can enhance your brightness at the top to see better in dark places, and it is recommended to put the sound on as well.
- no fly, no TP, to move around the battleground, use the warps recommended, like the one to get back to a game indicated near each of the starting point.
- finally: get rid of all your gear! Weapons, armor, elytra, food, arrows... Each game will provide the gear and ressources you will need to complete it.

Note for E-lite / Editors: make sure to remove all brushes (with /none) before playing, to avoid any spawn mass destruction.

The final warp will be given at the beginning of the event. Make sure to be there on time! And wish you all a great fun through this event.

And so it is that, after 2 wonderful evenings, we have concluded our Summer recreation of the Battle of the Blackwater!
Thanks to all participants! I hope it was as funny for you all as it has been for me to organize and witness.

A special shout out to CashBanks DutchGuard JThompy_ and the builders and mods who have helped set up the whole battleground, and in particular Homiesucc for her wonderful help on all the redstone set ups.

Obviously, this also means that the various games can now be used anytime, as long as you make sure to preserve the battleground.

And now, to conclude this event, some rewards are in order, for our best knights and champions.
After many counts and going through the chat over and over through disc, I am glad to announce our best contenders (in order starting 1st place):
Deiniol Batelgause Flip90 @UltimateBlue @Joseph ViserysII JThompy_ CashBanks IronGentleGiant Ric FD001__
Congrats to you all!

You will all receive a forums trophy (currently in production) reminding your deeds in the battle.
For achieving first place, Deiniol will also be granted a colored title for a duration of 2 months.

Till next time,
Ser Eld of the Blackwater
