The Spring 2023 edition of The Rookery is now out! Take a look to see the latest builds, guides, progress and development updates on the upcoming 1.18.2 switch. You can read it here:
While bog iron is something fun to include at the project, it should not be the namesake. For one, bog iron turns a pool red. Red silt, red clay-like soil. Black water is produced by a few things. Either there's dark loamy sediment or black peat washing into the water (like Blackpool in the UK)...
I'm loving the look of these blocks but wouldn't it also be good for them to look similar to cut turf walls, like used as insulation on many of our buildings in the north. We use grassy dirt atm but it'd be fun to be able to make the proper thing with stacked peat/cut turf blocks
Nice work with an angled house. Simple style, gradient is good. In future I'd suggest to make the table out of carpet and halfdoors.
Otherwise, I've been quite pleased with your work. Consider your builder application approved!
Please make sure to read the New Builder guide here...
I approve as well! Very happy with those plans if Emot's feedback is applied.
Can't wait to see how this project takes shape and good luck with the building!
I approve, just recommend you keep some variation for the plot size and shape. The low-lying blackhouse like style works very nicely if they don't seem uniform and are always individual in shape.
Also a reminder that this is one of the few areas of the server where you don't need to terraform...
To update some projects' mountains we've edited the upper stony parts before. Parren-Clegane and Vikary-Marbrand and I think some around Stackspear as well. Regardless, it should be fine to finish off the mountains in retrospect as there'll be room on the other side of the slopes to make sure...
Loving that map. You have my approval! I trust you can do the cliffs well, Rex.
Good luck and have fun building! I can't wait to see more of how the project turns out
Are you going to have terrain more similar to guillard's diagram? If so, another map might be in order to straighten out where field and moorland can be if the ridgeline is on the eastern side rather than central.
Also, the terrain tests are good for low beaches but what do you have in mind for...
Heya,
Good work with the interiors! I've got two points though. With the horizontal line of Cross frame, it should continue all the way to the sides rather than having the close framing on the sides of the line. Also, with the attic and everywhere with the sloped ceiling, it would look better...
yeah, quickly tinkering to create something like that would be good.
Also I didn't explain the renewable aspect. the bog iron at the bottom of the body at water replenishes slowly as more is brought from the spring. approx once a generation harvest is enough to be worthwhile.
I'd suggest having the bog iron harvesting in areas where the existing bogs Carci has made suit it. Bog iron can occur in small ponds and at the bottom of lakes too. If a spring passes through an iron ore vein on its way to the surface, some of that iron is deposited along with sediment. The bog...
Forest like this should be left on land with little economic potential, as it is irl. Celtic Rainforest/Atlantic Rainforest are mostly left on land that you couldn't grow crops on or graze livestock well and the wood was too warped or twisted to make good boards. Imo this is how it should be for...
I was typing up an idea which mysteriously deleted itself but anyway, I was thinking maybe the town and quiet isle could be moved further upstream a bit? Currently maidenpool is seems closer to the island than saltpans, while there is no mention. Of being able to see maidenpool from the island...
Imo the white cobble closest to the cave exit comes across as bones. they aren't arranged like the other tombs and seem to be more broken down than the others with bones scattered around them. I'd suggest either making them more regular and tomb like, or changing them to bone blocks.
Otherwise...
It's happening!
I'm loving these ideas and the wooden sept insp is hot af. However, some of the tests I think could be refined a bit more. The row of middle class houses would look nice with a bit more vertical wood elements in them. For instance, upper stories being vertical planks rather than...
I'm fine with whatever you want for there Jeff. A few small houses and a lower profile watchtower could work nicely without making the area seem too populated. similar to Wyland
Awesome! I'd usually go for a northern bed for anywhere in the north but thatch is fine here. good job working with the cramped interiors.
For your next challenge build, could you do me a middle class chandler in the style of Tumbleton?
Heya Waffle,
Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. This house looks pretty good. the forge too. However, I'd like to see you do something in a more minimalistic style. Can you make a carpenter for me in the style of Frost?
