The Spring 2023 edition of The Rookery is now out! Take a look to see the latest builds, guides, progress and development updates on the upcoming 1.18.2 switch. You can read it here:
Alrighty! I like the layout you've gone for with the central stair and work-kitchen space pretty well divided. Nice work with the style. I've only got two things to note for feedback.
-The bedside table where the smith is could be two less ornate blocks, like stairs, cabinets, drawers etc. Even...
Okay so here are my points
-for the ceiling under workshop annex, you need to have slabs beside the stairs to support the roof. it can't just be bare thatch undersides
-Don't have heavy containers like chests and crates up in a loft accessible by ladder only unless there's a crane. Plus, only...
Heya,
Feedback provided in game.
-reduce the clutter. Sometimes having a more open room is better than having each corner filled by stuff.
-Keep crates in industrial or workshop spaces.
-Shared some improved ideas for looms.
Next Challenge is a Hammerhal potter.
Hi Walrus! You've done a good job with the gradient the house style in general. In particular I like how you've completed the sometimes tricky ceiling design.
However, there are a few points for improvement as well as what looks like a building typo.
In the 7th image, the roofline on the left...
Alrighty so first off is we don't use trapdoors in any situation where they're not meant to move. Use a wooden carpet instead for shelves, bench tops etc. There is a variant of each wooden carpet block that doesn't need a block underneath it. Use them. Also, the basket texture now has a bottom...
Hi Tobi,
I think you need to add a bit more definition to the tower palette and make it more rounded. So adding in some horizontal bands of cobble keystone + large brick, making it more round and have less flaring around the base.
Can you show me some ints too please? Just need to check ceiling, tables etc. Windows too.
with the house on the right, you need to make sure the dirt isn’t visible between the half door and the wall block. Just using normal plank blocks would be fine. Also you might want to finish off the...
Hey Rattlez,
Good to have you back on the team. Let's get you back to your testing again! Can you build me a house in the style of Cape Kraken? Fermont is a good warp to head to.
Minis
Small quarry mini near vyrvillage available! They're pretty low tech so won't have much in the way of machinery. One of the main things they produce is quicklime and powder for the white/limewash on many houses throughout the region. So have a quicklime kiln in the set up. Around the site...
G'day Walrus!
Always good to have another Aussie around on the server! Good work with building the Tumbleton test house. Only thing of note is could you please use night vision or another method of making the ints brighter in your future challenge builds? It makes it a bit easier for me to see...
Also Either line up the tents to the main road and have a grid pattern based on that OR make them have their own grid pattern. It's easier to organise troops and know how many you have, easier to rally to defend a part of the camp and generally speeds up any task within the camp to have...
At Darkdell there are going to be a lot of small self contained Shepherds huts, shielings etc. It might be a fun place to do a day on and I could potentially use a few around the place.
Rather than Nutria, a South American native, I'd use European Water Vole burrows which are a smaller, more concealed and aren't as deep. Nutria dig large holes and make a small tunnel or driveway before leading up to the den, so would require more detail and effort to make sure its not mistaken...
Maybe stick some horizontal rope on the ends of the wood planks so that they can be held together as they float downstream. Also maybe stick one or two Stairs in to break up the v linear form of the plank piles.
Heya, I thought that now might be a good time for a brief update.
All plots at Vyrvillage are complete! All that remains are detailing and the sept on the crown of the hill.
In the valley hamlet there are a few plots open now too and a number of small rural crofts will open as terrain is slowly...
Probably more like white grove than holy hall. The Manderlys where a power that capable of threatening the Gardener kings, if indirectly.
They would have had a powerful seat and it was truly a boast to possess it. While not the scale of Frenci's brilliant map, something large and worthy of such...
Serifs require a lot of effort to get the rounding right and the small serifs at the right spot. Serif are legible and that's the most important bit.
Serif carvings took time and money and were impressive. You'd have to chisel downwards or upwards to create the line, then flesh it out and...
Alrighty! Nice work and you've done well with the angled plot. They're a real challenge to do right, especially when they have jettied extensions like that. My main issue here is that you haven't quite got the gradient right.
-HGtown white stone gradients go from White cobble -> light stone ->...
