Approved Project Application: House Melcolm of Old Anchor

You already know this, but close-studding has not been sanctioned for the Vale. I think we need to try out best to keep it special or it's just going to be everywhere. Definitely make use of that green and blue D&W though! It's one of the few areas we've earmarked to use those colours. I would...

The Arbor: Feedback, Suggestions & Testing

I agree with Nuggs, even though I have previously given Eld my feedback which has been taken into consideration and acted upon. A statement would be nice, but I think we should all feel comfortable about giving eachother feedback on the forums. There is nothing to stop anyone from posting...

Pre-Application: Lonmouth (and the state of the Kingswood)

This is good thinking, but what then are the "lower reaches of the Kingswood" mentioned in the quote from World of Ice and Fire? Most maps show what appears to be more dense forest south of the Wendwater which I have to assume is also part of the Kingswood. Maybe it means the area around the...

Pre-Application: Lonmouth (and the state of the Kingswood)

Hey mdm, thanks for starting this thread. The Kingswood is a bit of a mystery to most beyond being the location of Roberts many hunting parties, but here are some other descriptive pieces of canon: "there were so many hiding places in the deep of the kingswood that outlaws often evaded capture...

    Westeroscraft Texture Pack Megathread

Here are some of my thoughts on white/colour washing based on what I know irl. Not sure how relevant that is to us necessarily but here goes: Whitewash (limewash) is just lime putty watered down to a liquid form, and applied using a large brush. Here's a video of someone doing it for context...

    Westeroscraft Texture Pack Megathread

There seems to be an issue where I can't place the dappled moss below already placed moss. Normal vines don't have this issue. There is now also a "Jasmine Vines" and a "Vine Jasmine" which are identical except the "Jasmine Vines" have the same issue as the dappled moss. My understanding is that...

Approved Redo Appeal: House Estermont of Greenstone

Hey Knight_Krawler, I think Greenstone by default is exempt from the No-Redo rule as it is an abandoned build so unless someone has a powerful argument as to why what currently exists should be kept I don't see why anyone wouldn't be able to apply to redo or foster it. I do however appreciate...

    Westeroscraft Texture Pack Megathread

Yeah I'd say that's the right way to go. Maybe we can try to avoid double-height windows in low and middle class housing so as to reduce the occurrence of decorative, high class spandrels. I think it pretty rare atm for low class buildings to have double-height windows anyway.

    Westeroscraft Texture Pack Megathread

It would be if the building was stone or brick, but timber buildings are constructed using a grid of interlocking timbers, which means loads are carried along a grid. There would be no need for bracing in such a small opening. Larger diagonal braces could be used (as seen below) but these aren't...

Agreed with Stoop insofar double-height windows are made square-headed without braces. A mullioned window variant could be added later as Codd suggests.

    Help out with a Timelapse!

Hey all, Today fluboss, myself, and a few other volunteers tested a reverse timelapse of one of Winterfell's towers to test out some ideas for a full-scale video. Most of you know what a timelapse is, but what is a reverse timelapse? Basically, we are filmed slowly destroying a build, top to...

    Westeroscraft Texture Pack Megathread

I agree with Stoop that the limewashed (white) timber blocks could be adjusted slightly. Perhaps make the timbers a little more grey and reduce the shadows on the daub to make the plaster appear less textured (less "bumpy") which is an effect of limewashing irl. I would suggest this as...

    Westeroscraft Texture Pack Megathread

I think we'll be okay. It's not like the new colours are subtle, they're going to stick out like a sore thumb if anyone tries using some crazy colours in an area where the colours aren't part of the project palette. Gradient colours, because they are much more similar in tone, are harder to...
