The Spring 2023 edition of The Rookery is now out! Take a look to see the latest builds, guides, progress and development updates on the upcoming 1.18.2 switch. You can read it here:
So I'm assuming you'd want something like this:
If thatch was used only as thatch in the north it would be quite easy to do this as a biome-specific overlay.
Would you mind if I tried my hands at a new block for this that looks a little more like a thatched roof and less like the ambiguous...
I’d like to float the idea of adding a block to represent a cantilever beam which could replace those use cases of fence gates. Fence gates are probably the most meaning-laden block we have and also the most troublesome because anyone can toggle their state.
I’ve identified about 10 different...
Yeah, I totally agree! My texture was just a quick sketch since CashBanks wanted to work on that part of the block, I'll just work on the modeling and implementation.
Alright, so I've got 7 principal forest types:
1. Beech
2. Spruce, Dense
3. Spruce, Sparse
4. River Floodplain
5. Carr
6. Driesch
7. A mixed Oak/Birch Forest used at Norridge
I'd suggest using 1. primarily though 2, and 3. as a continuation of the forests at Rousemont into Orme.
What I need...
I wanted to prototype the passage at the Nightfort
So check out the spruce fence gate in this next update :D

Yeah, I only suggested adding a new texture because I have the hope that this would encourage the use of that rather than the use of brick stairs as a roofing material.
I'd prefer to just go with a simple color change of the existing texture.
Happy to run my scripts, with one caveat:
You plot, plan, and paint where what kind of forest goes.
I only have a limited amount of time on my hands so I'd like to cut back on the things that I need to do and painting the terrain is unfortunately the most time-consuming!
I'll gladly teach you...
Another small update:
- I added a prototype for an oars block -> It's on the sticky piston for now
- I'm still including my split shutters from above but I'm not really serious about them. They are a prototype for sure -> Oak Fence Gate
I now realize that if we had done half-door arrowslits from the start we could have a) had directional placement and b) done this kind of depth from the beginning.
Hoardings seem reasonable but they also set a precedent for directional placement of openings. And that could lead to them being...
That is because it's all the same base texture. They are all derivatives of the "Small Smooth Stone Brick", hence they all suffer from the same issue: Each "brick" has a rounded smooth shading, low contrast, and is rather large.
But I get that these are fine details.
Yeah, good choice! This is...
Excellent idea! I've seen people use the Iron fence but it's clunky and doesn't have the horizontal bars.
I would love to move away from using the cage block for all kinds of iron grilles. Mainly because I had hoped that one day we could have bird cages like these. I'd suggest adding a...
This is tricky, I feel like if we make a push in this direction we'd need to make a bigger push and rework our arms blocks in general ... We have a helmet, a broken sword, and a sword rack block and to cover canon or historical accuracy we need to go a lot further than that.
It's also a bit of...
That sounds like a reasonable request! I must admit when I made that texture I overdid the roundness of the block, gave it too little contrast, and made the 'bricks' really large. They are more the size of oversized cinder blocks.
To correct my shame I'd like to ask you if you would be...
In the interest of avoiding ambiguity down the line, I'd like to take a stab at making a tile roof with a slightly different design to the LP slate.
To me, the LP slate resembles this style of roofing. Which is called "Moench und Nonne" in German, or "Teja Arabe" in Spanish, or "Tuile Canal" in...
