Heres my new proposed map, not TOO different, just some stuff shifted up north and such
Only 1 more hamlet but bare in mind the farming villages will only be little complexes
Orange- farmland
green- forest
yellow- roads
blue star- villages, hamlets, etc
pink- structures such as castles or little holdfast towers

There shouldn't be much left from the fight as it happend hundreds of years before, but maybe you can come up with a few ideas hinting at the battle. A few broken swords (not too realistic, I know), a ruined stone monument, dark stone foundations, like Waz did? Forest might have taken over, but it should be a lighter one. And the area is very plain by canon.

I mean, it's not impossible that some people pushed out by the normal village folk (e.g., witches) could have been forced to set up a settlement on "cursed" battle-marked land, right?

Ok I will remove the northern hunters village and put the witch one lower down on the border of the lighter forest area, as lem makes a good point.
I will have a ruined wall that encapsulated the field and possibly a ruined statue, that people may have used to play homage to, this will be around the area of where I marked the witch village, so pretty slap bang in the centre, the route to it will be pretty pvergown however, maybe the witches do some rituals there, a cauldron or two

Maybe a darker terrainset too, to give it more of a... spooky vibe, and to reflect the ecosystem may have changed post battle

Dragonfire probably doesn't work like real fire, but if it did the vegetation would be pretty lush there because all the nutrients would be readily available from the ash. However, if dragonfire was based on some toxic, non-biodegradable oil/petroleum-based compound (napalm even) then I'd imagine the area could still be barren or favour low-energy grasses/ mosses. Not sure if the charring (darker terrainset) would remain though, with erosion and all.

It may be good to show the changes to at least achieve a different feel, but yes I will try and make the terrain a bit more barren and spooky eh

Don't overspook it tho: like skeletons and brown grass and fog and skulls is 3spooky5me :3

Take a look at castle lychesters vegetation for a medium amount of spook imo.
