General update
SeapunkPeaches will be taking over the leadership of the defense team. Once the walls are plotted, we will open up the team to new applications. That way, anyone who wants to can contribute. We will continue with Stoop's plans to replot Oldtown's walls.
We will aim to ensure that the new plotting is detailed so it is easier for people to adapt the walls. The previously shared map is still accurate regarding these revisions and will be used as a blueprint. In addition to this map, we have developed a secondary map showing the different wall styles used in Oldtown. Keep in mind that this map will most likely be subject to minor changes as plans develop. An updated guide on wall styles can be found below.
The process by which we will build the walls has changed. Previously, groups of builders concentrated on their own sections of walls and built them simultaneously. Supervision proved difficult and consistency depended mostly on builders' abilities and discretion. To remedy this: (1) Large sections with little detailing will be done by the leads. We are currently developing a gradient technique to speed up gradient work. (2) Smaller sections of walls with more detail will be open for applications. Smaller sections will be done in test world and pasted in after feedback and adjustments. Therefore, anything pasted in will be pre-approved to maintain quality and avoid past scenarios. If we are happy with the results after some time, we'll consider making the building/contributing process more open, however this will come with stricter supervision.
To do for leads
- Development of new wall styles in-game corresponding the descriptions of the styles below + gradient examples
- Layout detailed plotting
- Preparations for gradienting method
- Clear wall test in test world to make more space for new wall tests
How can builders contribute?
Currently, we are looking for wall tests. We have provided descriptions and reference pictures below to help people willing to test.

Feel free to suggest walls inspiration in #inspiration-suggestions in the Oldtown discord. We'll ask to please label inspiration by style (1,2,3) and general information such as location. This makes it easier for us to follow up on it.
