The Spring 2023 edition of The Rookery is now out! Take a look to see the latest builds, guides, progress and development updates on the upcoming 1.18.2 switch. You can read it here:
I think I can do that easily, but I think I prefer what Kor suggested: Adding a few blocks to help with that consciously!
PS: The chocolate (and strawberry mountains, for that matter) in the south of Westeros also heavily suffer from being super vanilla world painter terraforming. They could...
Thanks for the excellent feedback you guys and gals!! I really appreciate this! I'm super happy that I've managed to find a way that is easy to prototype yet still gives our natural blocks a more cohesive look!
River rock could just get a rename to 'wet rock' and be used everywhere where some...
I think this is the peak now:
Ocean Rock (with mussels on there):
Reach (adjusted to fit reach pink stone):
Westerlands (adjusted to fit sandstone really well):
River Rock (finally you can distinguish between this and ocean rock.. please people, only use it for rivers, mkay?!)
Bonus...
Th
which one would you change? The orange one or the pale blue/green one?
Doesn’t really matter :D
This is the orange one: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caloplaca
And this is the other one (quite weak but there):https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physcia_caesia
I can make the last one more...
@lemonbear yeah I agree, the range from dark to light is too large with the Iron Islands and Northern set!
Worked on the moss some more and this is now where it's at! I will re-upload all the tiles again once I've collected some more feedback!
I’m using a custom build launcher with the most recent 1.11 version of Optifine, so the method is ‘overlay_random’ with vertical and regular random matchTile underneath. Works like a charm!
I’m not too concerned since I’m using a random overlay but only a test will show if it works.
I’m...
So what features was I talking about in this post?
Well. The latest version of Optifine introduces a method called overlay (and its CTM, random, and fixed variants). Essentially these allow us to overlay a transparent or translucent tile onto any other block based on the existing CTM rules...
Hey, here's another request for updated software:
Our current client is locked in with an ancient version of Optifine (C7 from 28.12.2017) but the newest is F5 from 04.12.2019. Could we get someone to update that in the launcher? Some drastic bugs have been fixed in the newest version and some...
Made the prototypes a lot more grainy and tweaked the colors of stormlands and red mountains.
I'm struggling a lot with how to do a renderPass overlay. Looks like that doesn't exist anymore with Optifine? How did we do that for the profession signs again?
Love me some good constructive feedback! I’ve been thinking a lot about a few overlays: vertical to add rainwater discoloring, and random to add individual discolored tiles. Does transparency work with overlays? There was an issue with the waves right?! I can’t remember what the issue was though.
Limestone-based sets for Westerlands and Reach:
To try them replace the folders that have the same name in your resource pack at .westeroscraft ▸ instances ▸ WesterosCraft-1.11.2 ▸ resourcepacks ▸ WesterosCraft.zip ▸ assets ▸ minecraft ▸ mcpatcher ▸ ctm
These are prototypes...
Please find the first batch of Sandstone-based sets here. They replace Arbor/Dorne, RedMountains and Stormlands with sets that mix a bit better and look more natural.

Just generally FYI (Not in direct response to you Otty, but perhaps triggered by your write up)!
There is a burden of activating energy for me in making any texture which is the amount of time I need to spend to identify and find the right source material. So from now on, suggestions for new...
Yeah I'm using random since it is so much easier to get right than repeat. You may remember that I tried repeat for the Iron Islands a few years ago and failed miserably in scaling it right: weeks of meticulous shading were in vain. I also thought since we've essentially been using repeat I...
Hey guys,
I'm going to dedicate some time to knock out cohesive terrain sets for us. Could you give me initial feedback on my sandstone as a replacement for the Arbor/Dorne Set, and maybe some initial cues as to what you deem acceptable for the Stormlands replacement (i.e. how light should I...
