The Spring 2023 edition of The Rookery is now out! Take a look to see the latest builds, guides, progress and development updates on the upcoming 1.18.2 switch. You can read it here:
Sorry, I haven't had time to look at this in-game yet as I've been busy IRL. However, I had the impression that this advice would be followed rather than the original stream layouts:
Please avoid working on the streams any further until you've had a chance to revise the hydrology. Let me know...
Hey Jake,
Personally I'm inclined to take option (3) whenever it comes to niche canon that appears to contradict a major direction we've taken with the project. I think we have to accept that, at the end of the day, we're a creative fan adaptation and thus will take certain liberties with our...
Hey Shel,
Great work with this house! You picked up the style well, and the timber frame pattern is very nicely done. My only feedback is that the shape/proportions of this facade are a little odd. It's not a problem if it's obscured by a neighboring house, but if it's exposed to the street...
Hey seashellbs
Welcome back! Always nice to see some oldheads coming back :)
The apphouse looks good! Hope it was helpful for learning some of the new building techniques since you were last active. Just one minor detail, we now have "timber window frame" blocks that are now typically used for...

Hey Robert,
It's great to see you back! Your apphouse looks good, but make sure you have Optifine installed - there's a couple texture issues there that this will fix.
Since you were a fairly recent builder IIRC, I'd just like to see a house in the style of /warp kl1 to make sure you're all up...
Just copying over this awesome map that DutchGuard brought to my attention, which definitely has some similarities with the Gulltown layout that we might be able to draw on.

Great map, Finn! Sketching out the zones of expansion will be quite important to have in the server build planning stages, since apart from figuring out the location of the Shetts, it will help with planning substyles from different eras, historical structures and fortifications, etc.
We talked...
Good catch!
The little canon that exists on House Shett and their location is pretty confusing. I based the current position of the Gull Tower on the "semi-canon" quote given in the wiki. I just did a little more digging and it seems like this is extrapolated from a So Spake Martin entry...
Alright, finally got around to post-approval.
Overall, fantastic job with this project - I know it was a bit of a rocky road, but it turned out to be one of the quaintest areas on the server! :D Really fun to explore. Here's my post-approval feedback, mostly minor stuff:
Elderbrook:
- There...
Hey NMF,
The new map looks great!
The only feedback I still have at this point is a few concerns about some of the town house styles and their overall cohesiveness. I've left some melons at your town test in-game. Let me know if you have any questions about any of the melons and I'd be happy...
Hey magpie,
Great work with this challenge! I really like the way you incorporated the stone wall with the balcony; it feels very well put together. I just have a couple minor points:
- I'd try going with the short wattle fence rather than full wattle around the balcony; given that it's a...
Hey magpie,
Excellent work on this house! You've picked up the style really quickly, and for the most part the house looks like it could fit right in at Woodwright. I only have a little bit of picky feedback to give:
- Try to avoid long horizontal rows of the "timber oak white frame" block...
Here's an updated draft of the GT map in which I tried to make the harbour a bit more interesting and less artificial. I think the addition of the small cove could also allow for some nice waterside houses and a longer Lucerne-style covered bridge. The harbour area is a bit larger, but will...
Hey Frenci,
Excellent work! I love the layout of the courtyard you made, and both the exteriors and interiors are nicely done as well. The only piece of feedback that I have is that the mud plaster should be simplified a bit, as it looks a little messy now. For each facade, try to just have one...
Hey spiritedmagpie, thanks for your patience, and glad to see your interest in joining the project! In the future feel free to ping me if it's been more than a few days with no response.
Nicely done with the apphouse, I'm not seeing any issues there! Hope the exercise was helpful for learning...
Hey Aeks, thanks for the feedback! I also love Enah's mini and am keen to use ideas from it where I can, especially once we get to the server build planning stage. Concerning the harbour shape, the main obstacle is that the topography is quite different in the interpretation I've gone with...
