The Spring 2023 edition of The Rookery is now out! Take a look to see the latest builds, guides, progress and development updates on the upcoming 1.18.2 switch. You can read it here:
Thanks for making this post Sim. I will mark the project as abandoned which does open up the possibility of redo, but as long as you are present on the server and make your intentions to eventually finish it clear, I doubt anyone would be proposing to do so.
Best of luck testing for your next...
I don't entirely disagree with this but you need to bear in mind the practical needs of a castle when it isnt under attack, which is ultimately about 99% of the time. A large outer bailey, lightly defended, is an almost essential part of a large castle, especially one situated on a steep rise...
Hey Opaco,
Great app, I've been looking forward to your submission. A few points of feedback and observations that spring to mind:
- Think you are totally justified having two towns, the highly navigable mouth of the Mander is bound to have a lot of trade coming in and going out from ports...
I was also going to suggest Tumbleton as being the perfect town to model Harrentown on, as it was also destroyed and rebuilt.
I also have to slightly contest this comment:
I really don't think Harrentown was planned in conjunction with the castle. The castle is large enough (more than large...
Great news!
If you can, please make use of marker signs so we can see where the minis and plots are and what's available from the dynmap.
It will also help probies find available plots. Can't wait to see the new progress!
I don't have any reservations at this stage, happy to approve.
Obviously when we get to applications for sub-project level I will scrutinize in greater detail, but the general and terra plans sound ace.
Let's do Vale!
To be fair to seri, Harrentown is very much in development, not many of the specifics were planned in advance, so we don't really have much choice but to give feedback on the town as it is being planned at 1:1 scale in game. I wouldn't blame yourself for not commenting sooner.
I fully agree on...
Hey Johan, good to see you back!
I had a look at the area and everything looks great. You've done a wonderful job of infilling the gaps between existing builds which has brought a lot more life to the area (ironic because of how desolate the landscape is). I just removed some leftover tags but...
Please don't bump unless its been at least several days, ideally a week. The mods don't always have time to respond to applications on a daily basis.
In the meeantime you can set yourself a challenge or look for ways to improve your last challenge based on feedback others have received on their...
I mean, this is likely because of all the temporary accommodation that was set up around the town. I wouldn't expect that to still be there.
Here's the way I always imagined it: the castle was so large and required so many servants that a town grew up next to it just to facilitate the running...
I believe they are referring to plugins which enable more detailed statues.
We have looked at adding these in the past but considering the size of the map adding these resource intensive objects might overload the server. Haven't looked at it in a while so we could revisit to see if its worth...
Only if you promise to submit a wiki article.
But seriously I think its generally okay to update your own projects as long as you don't nuke large areas. Gradual and limited updates are fine. We want to avoid the possibility of builders removing large areas and never returning to finish them...
This is a great idea Jake, thank you for offering. I wouldn't be surprised if you get a lot of interested builders joining in!
Is there a time/date you had in mind? I am assuming that will be the deciding factor for a lot of people.
I would be massively (or should that be massey-vely?) In favour of a Cornwall or Bretagne type of terrain as this is hugely underrepresented on ohr map (There are only a few places that come to mind, part of the south coast of Cape Kraken, Bandallon, and Banefort. It would be great to have a...
Before discussing this in any great detail, as I am assuming you would like to apply for Moore if this is approved, what are your plans for Bigglestone? While it's technically part of the central riverlands megabuild, it still large enough to be considered a canon project in its own right. I...
The updated map looks good. I'm happy to approve.
What are your plans for the first men ruins? Iron age hillforts might be good inspo. https://www.heritagedaily.com/2021/03/10-british-iron-age-hill-forts/118900?amp
