Description
House Follard is a minor noble house from the Crownlands. They blazon their arms with a two-peaked fool's cap of red and white with silver bells on a gyronny of red and white. Their words are "None so Wise”. Being located on Massey's Hook, House Follard has historically maintained close ties with Dragonstone. Though not among the most prominent houses, they are sworn bannermen to House Baratheon of Dragonstone and remain loyal to Stannis Baratheon at the start of the War of the Five Kings.
Features
The lands of House Follard are relatively small, confined to a narrow expanse of land between the Narrow Sea and the central spine of Massey’s Hook. Follard Castle is a modest but strategically placed fortification atop a hill, guarding the road that connects Sharppoint and Stonedance to the rest of the Crownlands. Its coastline is composed mainly of steep cliffs interspersed with long, sandy beaches, where fishing villages and small docks provide for the local populace.
Construction
Construction of the Southern Hook began in late November with the clearance of the area and extensive reworking of the terrain and geography. Given the region’s mix of cliffs, hills, and beaches, significant effort was required to prepare the land for development. Once the desired general shape of the land was achieved, plotting of the main village and hamlets began, followed by the castle and the numerous fields and farms that now define the landscape. The lands surrounding the settlements are dedicated to farming grains and vegetables, while livestock was raised in the more rugged areas.
Inspiration
House Follard's lands draw inspiration primarily from southern Ireland, southern England, the Channel Islands, and, to a lesser extent, Scotland and northern France.
