Hey GreyCoast! I saw you deleted several attempts before this one, don't worry it's okay if you missed something. I recommend you checking again the application rules, I think you've missed some stuff hahahaha (hint: look at other builder apps, you may find it). It looks like you used the shell of the app house at /warp apphouse, but not the ints. For your first challenge we want you to copy it 1:1, so you get an idea of how an average build here goes. So check the app rules once again and upload here your version of the app house and we can continue. Good luck and have fun!

PS: Upload a couple more pictures of interiors and exteriors so I can judge them, and preferably take them at day or with a night vision potion on. Our forums have an uploading cap of 10 images per post, if you want you can use an image hosting website like imgur.com to upload more.

Built everything from 1 to 1, as it was shown on the server. for some reason, the textures near the bed are not connected, I hope this is not a problem. I hope you enjoy it:)

That's the same problem I had, if you have optifine, make sure connected textures is turned on.

You are indeed missing OptiFine (or activating some of its features). You are already on it, so I won't go further into it. Overall nice job! I don't see any issues with your starter house. With this build we hope you catched some of the techniques and ways we have of building here. Now your task will be to build other houses in the style of different locations in our server, but this time instead of copying you will have to come up with a design of your own based on the characteristics of the area we tell you.

For your next challenge go to /warp Sapphoshire and build a house with a yard in its style. Good luck and have fun!

Nice work! You did a very cute little house. For the record, if you ever want to upload more than 10 pics (as that is the cap in our forums) you can use an image hosting website like imgur.com. Create an album there and drop the link here, it will appeared embeded on the post. You can look at other build apps to see them using it.

Another small comment, it's far from an issue but it is best if you upload your build pictures once everything is finish, instead of doing it by sections. In this case it wasn't an issue, and it rarely will be since I don't reply super fast, but it is more confortable if I can gaze at everything at once.

Also it seems like you are still having some issues with OptiFine, do you have it properly installed? Perhaps you aren't using the correct version. OptiFine, at least for now, is needed for our modpack to work as intended, specially for biome shading of certain blocks, textures properly connecting with eachtother and certain blocks that have variations. I don't know which launcher you are using to access our server but in our Getting Started guides you can find how to properly install OptiFine under any of the recommended launcher options. It's pretty easy, just be careful with the skechy links and pop-up windows that may appear when you click the download link.

Having said all that let's go back to the build itself. Now I will give you my feedback about it:
  • Try laying the ceiling rafters (upside down stairs) on the shorter side of a building. It is more stable and also cheaper (shorter logs needed). Here's a (crappy) pic, the red lines show the direction the rafters should follow:
2023-09-22_22.17.47.png
  • Your house sits alone in a pasture, (no issue with that) but the type you are recreating is meant to have buildings most likely at either side. That creats a constrained buildable area, the reason behind why the top floor is bigger than the bottom floor. When the top floor jets out we call it jettying. You don't need to have jetties at the four sides of the house. Again, nothing wrong with what you did, just so you have it in mind.
  • The chimney is a bit wobbly and looks unstable, try making it more straight. Also the stones used on it aren't the ones of the area, Here's a pic of a good chimney stone gradient for Sapphoshire/Varner (f you have issues with OptiFine you may not see the extact same colours ingame):

The blocks used are River Cobble, Cobblestone and Small Stone Bricks. You lacked the last two and added Reach Light Brick (the light one in your build), which contrasts too much with the rest of the stones.

It is a lot of text, I know, but just 3 comments, so you did pretty well! For your next challenge go to /warp GhostHill and build a house with a profession and a yard. Good luck and have fun!

This is my intermediate result, I tried to convey the atmosphere of those buildings as much as possible. I still have problems with the optifine, I'm negotiating with the support of my launcher. I hope you enjoy my work!

I'm sorry for taking so long. I don't have time to finish the interiors to the end. I have to go to another city for a couple of days. On Monday I will finish the interiors, and I will send everything to you. Please forgive me for this stiuation.

Hey it's okay, no rush, the only one here that should reply within a set time period is me. You can take things at your pace. As I've told you in the future I prefer if you upload everything at once instead of going bit by bit, but it is still fine if you do the other route. Enjoy your weekend!

Awesome, nice job! I see you recreated one of the main towers of the town, cute detail! I'll try my best to give you FB, next time I would appreciate more pics, in order to know what everything is more easily.
  • In places like Ghost Hill or Dorne in general, don't use dirt/mud/pine needles in the floor gradient, it is very dark and wet looking and contrasts a lot. Instead change it for some of the dry Dornish or Westerlands pebbles.
  • I see you did a little market square, very cute! One thing about it though, given that a lot of people would step on it, there wouldn't be much grass left. Just like the dirt, it is better if you swap it for pebbles.
  • Here (pic below) it would be nice to add some wooden rafters that sustain the rooftiles above, otherwise they would fall.
s5pZGbH.png
  • The plaster gradients may need a bit of work, but for the most part the bases are nice. Ghost Hill's plaster style is a bit hard to get at first, and you got the basics right (from dark to light)
  • Looks like you went for some fancy interiors, nice! Keep some things in mind though, stuff like paintings or books would be really expensive in the middle ages, so even in fancy houses there wouldn't be a lot.
Overall you did nicely! Now, for your next challenge, go to /warp OAtown and do a house with a profession and a yard. Have fun!
