I think you already seem to have it down pretty well! But the best way, I find, is to look at the forums rather than /warp build, see what all the "active" project apps are, and then warp there (or talk to the project leads if they're on) and see if there's any work available there. Make sure to check the hamlets of that build too. Unfortunately, /warp build is frequently outdated because everyone forgets to take their signs down when their villages are done.
