What is your favorite build on our server?
Anything that is so big, that it's awe-inspiring to look at. Kings Landing, the wall, Casterly Rock and Highgarden to name a few.

Why do you want to join our server?
I want to help express my passions for the series and the creativity and skill that can be expressed in Minecraft building

Tell us about your build.
My build is a small farmers house, owned by a young couple who haven't had children yet. It comes with a windmill which has a bed and a few books hidden amongst the hay in the top level, hinting at a deeper story. It also comes with a small well and a butchers/hunters hut. It's designed to fit a lower class, young, farming family in the GOT universe. I chose rugged materials like mossy stone, wood, brownish white plaster, cobwebs, vines and red lanterns to show the worn down, yet charming nature of the build. I used hay blocks in the roof of the farm house to further push the idea that it was a well-loved building made from scratch by the farmer. The roaring furnace, candle, plate of food and double bed within the house illustrates the homeliness and cosiness in the tone of the build, and the hunters/butchers hut gives insight to the life of the farmer and his wife, living off the land and exploring the surrounding forest.

Hey Maddy,
Thanks for your interest in the server, have seen you around lately and can see you're really enthusiastic to lend a hand.
You're on the right track with these houses/buildings, I can see you've put thought into the structures and explored the server for inspiration and there's a lot of nice ideas and elements.

If you haven't already, take a look a the Basic Building Guide for some more tips, examples and Do's and Don'ts that will help on future builds.

Take note of our approach to high and low class blocks (we wouldn't normally include mirror/glass/books in low class houses for instance), how we do roof rafters, standard block mixes etc.

For your first challenge build, please make a Low Class Farmer's house in the style of /warp hawthornetown and share screenshots of it in this thread. I'll be able to give you some specific advise on what you've done well and what can be improved.

Keep and eye on the commonalities between the houses (block mix, shape of roof, size of house, interior blocks, attic spaces, mezzanine platforms) and make a house that would fit into the Hawthorne town. It would be great if the house could have a square yard walled with stone as well (see houses at Hawthorne for examples).

Good luck!

Hey Maddy, thanks for the quick turnaround, nice job with this house, you'd definitely captured the Hawthorne style.

Just a few notes:
The area on this side looks a little empty, for small houses like this you can usually divide them up into kitchen, eating, storage and sleeping areas, so maybe have a think about (sensibly) using up all the available space.

Here's a top down view of another hawthorne house for example (the sleeping area was on the upstairs platform above the kitchen).

Also, just be careful when using these drawer/kitchen/cabinet/bookshelf blocks, since they repeat the same texture on all sides we try to make sure only one side is exposed and we'll use other blocks/half doors to cover up the others.

Otherwise the house is good, the interior/exterior blocks are looking consistent with what you would typically see in Hawthorne and the yard is looking great and detailed too.

Overall though well done. For your next challenge, please build a middle class house in the style of /warp whsprawl. Houses in large towns will usually have a profession on their on the ground floor, take a look at the styleguide at the /warp oldstyleguides and the finished houses in the White Harbor area for inspiration, and give the house some kind of profession that would make sense in White Harbor (e.g. carpenter/cooper/blacksmith/boat builder, netmaker etc).

Note in the post which profession you go with as well.
