The Spring 2023 edition of The Rookery is now out! Take a look to see the latest builds, guides, progress and development updates on the upcoming 1.18.2 switch. You can read it here:
The old one is super flat imo it looks like a piece of paper with some wood pattern printed on it, the new one creates the illusion that each plank also has a thickness to it.
Another gripe I have with the old texture is that it has these super bright highlights. Wood is matte unless it's...
Yes!
I think I get you and will try something.
I think it's good that the texture has some depth to it. Rough-cut planks do have some relief so it's more realistic than being super flat and a wood veneer would stand out over whatever base it's on. I can try to reduce the contrast a little...
This is the texture in its simplest format, single tile, no nails, no borders, no CTM. I can make it as complex as we need it to be.

And the stripped bark fence:
The cross-beams are broken here will fix that when I understand how vanilla...
The above is the vanilla fence model. Nobody seemed interest in new models, so this is only a retexture of the current fence blocks. I only recreated the vanilla model for rapid offline testing, that's the reason why you see that screenshot above.
But while I'm on this, I'm gonna take the time...

Prototype of the stripped bark fence. You got any specific requests here otherwise I'll go ahead with recoloring them to match the planks (Although that's somewhat unrealistic.. I mean our spruce planks don't actually represent raw wood. They would have been...
Okay I'll take a look!
BTW, it might be that the schematic brush is redundant now that FAWE has an equal if not more powerful brush.
Would be cool if someone with root-access to the server could organise all the schems into respective folders then we could do exactly what's being done in this...
You need to understand that there is a difference between a schematic and a schemset defined through the schematic brush!
For all my newly made schematics, I did NOT define a schemset. Instead they are made to be used either individually or through a script.
Schematics I made include e.g...
I am redefining some schematics, however, I am not messing with defined schemsets!
But perhaps it is the time now to discuss how to make them consistently so they work both with the schembrush and scripts.
I don't have time right now to write an extensive post, but as a quick fix you could try...
That's neither a modeling nor a texture issue :3 .. Gotta modify block behaviour i.e. WesterosBlocks implementation for that. Sorry, nothing I can do :/
Sounds reasonable to me. Fences in vanilla MC 1.0 lazily re-used the vanilla wood texture. The creator of Dokucraft did not think to change that behaviour and so about 8 years later, here we are, still doing it that way.
It's a long-overdue fix in my eyes, and one that I'm happy to commit to...
Another quick update. I nuked the coniferous WorldPainter forest east of BB, south of RM, west of Orme and north of Dunwick and Bridges.
Here's my plan for the area:
Purple is dense coniferous areas, the rest is a mixed forest.
