The Spring 2023 edition of The Rookery is now out! Take a look to see the latest builds, guides, progress and development updates on the upcoming 1.18.2 switch. You can read it here:
I take this back. You also need to stand outside of the selection when copying/saving schematics, or else it can cause this error when you try to use a schembrush later on.
Basically, stand outside of selections at all time when using //copy.
Yeah, the short grass can be handled by BetterFoliage currently. Though we might want to still consider adding it to our grass block model so as to cut down our dependencies, the same way as we’ve done the extra leaves. Would it mess up anything? Thinking floors that are built over grass blocks...
Not really keen to add wood shingles, though I'd be fine pushing some of the slates in a more ambiguous direction (particularly the brown slate, if it doesn't negatively affect existing uses of it) - I know Dutch talked about revamping the textures and there were some tests in that direction...
Hey ChrisHiss,
Great work! I must say I'm impressed by how quickly you put up an entire city street :) I like how you're already thinking of the big picture rather than individual houses; that's a good builder trait to have.
Everything seems pretty solid, so I don't really have much feedback...
Hi Nwarren,
Sorry for the delay. Good work on this house; you're improving with the palette and gradients on the exterior. The interiors still need a lot of work though before they're up to server standard, so I recommend paying particular attention to the feedback I give on those, and spend a...
Sounds good. I recommend having some limestone pavement and smaller gorges in the cliff around the path, that formed the same way (wind/water/ice), to make it feel a bit more natural.
Also maybe don't have the shape of the crevice follow the road exactly, but instead look like a bunch of...
Hey Shymon,
This looks pretty good! Regarding the fields in the big orange area, they don't need to be special in terms of layout, compared to the other fields in your plans. The orange is basically just a leftover from when I was first planning out the project; it doesn't mean anything...
To be honest, I've seen a few facade tests with the close studding used like that (i.e., mixed in as an accent) and I'm still super skeptical about it being used like that, just in terms of aesthetics. It looks gorgeous when used as a dominant material in a house, like in some houses at...
Hey ChrisHiss,
Thanks for the application - glad to see your interest in becoming a builder.
This is a wonderful first build! You seem to have already picked up most of the more subtle aspects of our building style. I don't really have any major feedback to give; mostly just some minor things...
Hey Nwarren,
Good work on this new house! You're definitely starting to get the hang of it. The interiors especially are a huge improvement in quality over the previous house. I do have a bit more feedback this time, including some pickier stuff:
- Woodwright doesn't use the red timber frame...
Hey Enah, great application! Like others said, amazing map. I'm glad to see you have ambitious plans for a region that's needed some love for a while.
Regarding the house style, I agree with what Dutch said above. I don't think that close-studding should be used at all in the Vale. It feels...
I don't think I'm one of your approving mods but adding some touches of the northern yellow timber variant sounds good to me. I agree with Luk about the close-studding variants; these are supposed to be kept to the "English"-inspired styles, i.e., Crownlands and some of the southern Riverlands...
When proposing to retrofit a current/past build with the new timber blocks, please refer to the map below.
Note that the colored infill variants aren't generally meant to be used as a dominant material. By no means do they need to be used at a project falling within a particular region. The...
Hi everyone,
Sorry I've been a bit delayed in getting this out. I trust that everyone's had plenty of time to toy around with the new blocks. I'm just going to drop some info about the new blocks that were added, and some strategies for keeping our completed builds up to date.
Overall, I want...
Updated the map:
- Created an extended close-studding area (the dotted line) where use of these variants is acceptable, though not as a primary material.
- Expended pale yellow to include most of the Riverlands and Northeastern Stormlands (around Storm's End area).
- Expanded whitewashed...
Some terrainsets don’t blend with each other that should, and also I noticed a few noisy pixels in some of the overlays which I presume are due to the transparency issue you mentioned to me a couple days ago.
Check Disc, I sent you a message there.
Update is up! Will make a post (probably tomorrow) with the final changelog, some general guidelines on updating stuff, and an updated version of the timber map. Please try not to go too crazy with the new stuff!
The terrainsets and ore blocks will have overlay CTM soon, but it's delayed a bit...
