The Spring 2023 edition of The Rookery is now out! Take a look to see the latest builds, guides, progress and development updates on the upcoming 1.18.2 switch. You can read it here:
hey hey!
Just a reminder to people, especially new builders, that there are plots open at willum. In the main village, in willum2 and willum4. Willum4 especially has a few plots, ranging from Ints to the whole deal of house + yard and a number of special builds which include a wedding party...
Wouldn't it be best to make it a glass pane-like block instead of stairs, full blocks etc. Similar to netting and iron bars? That way there's no huge chonky blocks of sheer fabric hanging around. halfdoor + glass pane sounds like a good approach to me
Hey Hey! I've looked through the project with Azul and we've got a few notes on things to fix up. Some things on the beach near the castle and some details about the smaller hamlet.
Otherwise, could you remove the path blocks from the little road that leads into the neck? the shadows on them...
Hey hey Rex,
I'm ready to post approve after a few 'typos' are fixed up around the place. There's a few blocks of wool in the gradient at the NE septry and at the Massey cousin's western holdfast. Also some air pockets in the water on the western coast two. I've left outrageously big pillars of...
If those are carp ponds at the lake village, they need to be a lot larger. Look at Rousemont's ponds for a workeable design, though you'd have to downsize it to fit. Have a crack at making some low dykes, channels and sluices maybe to spread out the a series of ponds through the area. This...
I'm not a big fan of that gradient. Small stones touching Northern Cobble, Dark Cobble as well as Winterfell Granite makes it seem a bit too busy/messy. Maybe separating the darkcobble and small stone together would work, so that there's the grey-green tones together and then the blue toned...
No no, that's not what I mean. I like the ivy! It's good and adds contrast! I'm trying to build on Wursti's post and generally bringing more vegetation to the landscape is good. Helps break up the black and white monotone. working in that for two long hurts the eyes *cries in Norrey*
The more...
I know it's a big task but id think it would be a good idea to have a look at the terrain from the Kings road through to the sea around that point. We still need it to be a slow slope down to the sea and rn it's kinda strange vanilla flat, if I'm remembering correctly what I worked with at...
I'm liking it so far. Also on the bit from ages ago about Umber karstark borders imo there shouldn't be a clear border along a geologically feature like hills or a stream. Umbers have the largest land area under their control of pretty much every house but mostly because their borders are...
Just a reminder that the plots of the above mini are still open and waiting to be built! Closest warp is vyrvillage and then to fly west.
Also, ive got a few special builds in mind for the town too. Not yet plotted. So if people want to make tests for
-a cooper/Wainwright/Arkwright guild and...
Adding a few copses of trees might be nice. Even some hardy stuff that could be useful for kindling like Juniper or hawthorn. Only a few blocks high.
Definitely approve of the paths idea. Having them disappear into the bog would be v cool.
If I was around I'd volunteer for the smokehouse...
As I said in game to Jeff, I'd like the road to be fixed up to be a bit more logical. Currently the slabs are arranged in strange ways that'd make it harder to go up and down. I'd recommend at least 3 blocks deep of slab on the paths to make it seem flatter.
Also the route of the road is a bit...
These guest rooms would have been repurposed in the 300 years since Argilac the Arrogant died. Extra storage rooms for wood, cloth, clean linens and tapestries to hang in winter (since greenstone would be v warm/hot they'd put many away in summer) are always helpful. I've got some more feedback...
Now, bear with me on this but I agree partly with the warm currents idea but not in the same way. Its a good idea but warm water current sticking to the coast of the north after the Bite seems a little bit of a stretch considering how Karhold winters still lead to terrible euphemisms like 'going...
Is there a plan to reduce the number of high/middle class houses in the main village? High/middle class outnumbers low class structures 2:1 atm which is a very weird skew for a small port.
This village needs its own fishermen and farmers to survive. A good general rule would be 6...
A combination of an elevation change + a foaming water block would be perfect in my mind. Having a very shallow slope using water layers would look really good.
What could be done with post 1.18 waterlogging could be to have a foaming water block that could be placed inside water without...
