The Spring 2023 edition of The Rookery is now out! Take a look to see the latest builds, guides, progress and development updates on the upcoming 1.18.2 switch. You can read it here:
Hey Visstick,
Very nice work with this house! Everything seems pretty up-to-standards to me; not seeing any major issues to point out. If I were to nitpick, I would say that the yard feels a little bare and could use a couple more immersive details - nothing too complicated, just a wheelbarrow...
I'm not opposed to adding blocks for each of the 7, since it's a somewhat niche texture that would only apply to the wealthiest septs and therefore shouldn't outdate much. I'll have to defer that judgment to the community though.
One issue I can forsee is that it's common for septs to have...
That would be helpful! The horizontal beam should be on the same level as one of the two beams in the current fence blocks (either the top or the bottom, not sure which would look better). That should minimize the amount of uses it would break.
Like this request, this will require some changes to the underlying WesterosBlocks code which is outside of my purview, and therefore might take a while to get done (unless I can figure out a way to make the texture on the horizontal beams transparent, which I'll experiment with). Moved to...
I'm moving this to in-progress under the understanding that the request entails the following two changes:
1. A new texture for the colored sept window block (possibly with added CTM).
2. A pane version of the colored sept window block, with the same texture/CTM.
Suggestions other than these...
This request sounds reasonable to me, though I don't think it's something that I'll be able to work on as it depends on those changes being made to the underlying code for those blockstates, and thus will require red to help. It may take a while to figure something out. Nonetheless, I've moved...
I'm fine with adding this as a Dorne-specific block, due to the fact that most of Dorne's agriculture has yet to be fleshed out. Moved to in-progress. Thamus_Knoward , would you be comfortable working on the texture for this one?
I'd like to figure out a concrete plan before I move this to in-progress. One issue that I didn't think about above is that the vanilla pea texture has multiple metadatas for different stages of growth, which are sometimes mixed in a field to add variety in heights. In principle random CTM could...
That's gonna be a no from me, chief.
If people have other ideas for reworking the cabbage block, I propose that those be left as a separate block request.
Before I move this to in-progress, I'd like to see a concrete list of biomes, and a list of corresponding clothe types that are being asked for. Note that the cloth textures for each biome should be more or less interchangeable with each other preference-wise, to avoid the thing I mentioned...
I'm fine with adding this. I've moved to in-progess, though I'd like to see some details fleshed out on (a) where in Westeros that hemp production might be a significant industry, and (b) a process for retrofitting existing builds in those regions with the new texture (whether replacing hemp...
Hey jeffjunior,
Quite nice work overall; the interiors look good, and while there's a couple issues with the exterior, if those are fixed it'd fit into hgtown quite well. Here's the feedback I have this time:
- You should avoid using horizontal rows of the "timber oak white frame" blocks, as...
Yep I've talked with Carc a bit in-game about adding some sort of carnivorous plant for the Neck; probably some sort of sundew as those are one of the more common types in sphagnum bogs. It might also be cool to experiment with larger block models for some exotic-looking venemous flowers. I'm...
Hey Guilix,
Nice work on these houses, you've definitely made a good start! Glad you enjoyed the style. I'll focus on the Whitegrove house since Lannisport is a fairly dated style, though your house is a nice adaptation of it. The only thing I'll mention there is that you should never use...
Hey Visstick,
Sorry for the wait. I agree with some of the points you made; it feels a bit too cobble-heavy. I wouldn't mind seeing some more use of timber/daub or wood. Making the main building one big room is good; that would actually be a pretty typical layout for a farmstead like this...
