unable to verify the first certificate

hi! im really looking forward to this server, but every time i log in i get an "unable to verify first certificate" message. have the latest java, login info is correct! im not a coding genius so im not sure how to resolve this issue, but heres a look at my console:

I'm curious if you're behind a VPN, apparently Mojang really doesn't like that at all.

I'm curious if you're behind a VPN, apparently Mojang really doesn't like that at all.

I sometimes connect via vpn and have no issue with it - other than that it's painfully slow.
