The Spring 2023 edition of The Rookery is now out! Take a look to see the latest builds, guides, progress and development updates on the upcoming 1.18.2 switch. You can read it here:
Thanks Staf, that's looking good.
- I think some cobblestone could be mixed into the stone walls so make the gradient a little smoother, here's some examples
- You might also have enough space on the top floor to add an attic to fit a few more beds in/space for more storage.
- Can't tell for...
Thanks Staf, that's looking very nice, we've got quite a few taverns scattered around the major cities so that was a good choice of profession. Overall you've done well with the layout and shape, I've just got a few tips with the choice of blocks
- Trapdoors are rarely used for purposes other...
Thanks Wilshire, again another great challenge build! You've really picked up our approach to building quickly and shown an apt level of judgement when it comes to tailoring block choice to class/profession.
I had to try really hard to come up with notes, I might only suggest adding a little...
Here it is, I'm sure there's some areas that could be polished and refined with some second opinions, so let's treat this as the start of the conversation.
Thanks to Ark, Enah, Emote and Iwan for the help so far.
Thanks
Thanks Staf, that's very nice looking baker!
- Nice work with the overall shape and design, daub looks nice and symmetrical
- Most projects will usually have a mix of three blocks for the stone palette, I think in Sweetport's case there's also some Small Smooth Stone Brick mixed in with the Dark...
Hey Wilshire,
Well done, that's a very nice looking cobbler! Just a couple of notes:
- I think you might be using Blue Slate there for the roof, when I think the HG style is actually Black Slate (they look rather similar so it's an easy mix-up)
- I'm not familiar with that style of cage/chimney...
Haha I told you not to use that hay bail block! Every build has been littered with them! A baker would have flour/grain sacs, not bails of hay.
Swap out of those hay bails with grain sacs/baskets/pots and post some more pics and I'll finish the feedback, also I think the interior of the roof...
Oh and with the fence post windows, no worries as it'll vary from project to project. I think in Hawthorne's case the town was started before the trend against using fences began, but in any case if you just follow the style of the particular project challenge you'll be fine.
Hey Staf,
Thanks for completing your first challenge, you've shown some great progress with picking up the key elements of the hawthorne style.
Here's a couple of pointers.
- With the blacksmith profession/multiple levels/white daub/green shutters this is probably closer to a middle class...
Hey Wilshire, that house is looking great! I think you've really nailed the hawthorne style. There's a nice mix of stone base palette, the daub is looking nice and appropriately symmetrical and the interiors are looking nice too.
By way of feedback I can only make a few tiny tiny points.

Hey Wilshire,
Thanks for your interest in the server and as a clear fan of the series you've come to the right place.
I've taken a look at your house and on the whole, it's an excellent start. You've clearly got some skill with design and thinking through what that kind of house would logically...

Now all completed.
Fixed! And added a big snoozing bear.
Yess this was an oversight, I've changed the interior details and added a few more distinguishing features on the outside.
Have taken another pass and hopefully fixed up those goofs.
Yep have cut those now.
Further north to an extent, but Wildlings would've been coming from all directions towards the camp, the further south it got, the more numbers it presumably acquired. How far north would Wildlings really be living anyway? You'd figure they'd try and stay as far south as practical, and maybe...
Hey VC
Great job overall.
- Shape/gradient of the house is spot on and interior looks good too,the butcher was a good choice.
- Try to limit the number of candles attached to walls, it's generally not too common, try to find a spot for them on top of a table/bench.
- Potentially a few too many...
