The Spring 2023 edition of The Rookery is now out! Take a look to see the latest builds, guides, progress and development updates on the upcoming 1.18.2 switch. You can read it here:
I think pretty much everything in the Riverlands between the Blue and Red Forks (except for Fairmarket) needs to be reshuffled as part of a future Raventree Hall update/redo.
That's a great suggestion. I would suggest having a large forest around the town (canon says that south of Harrenhal...
Mo' money, mo' problems.
Ch. 55, Catelyn 8
Excuse me? WHAT? Okay George, you're telling me Twyin's army did THIS? IN 17 DAYS??? That's got to be around 1000 miles. ON FOOT.
I think I'll decide to take the "it's said" as meaning it was said by a blind person mistaking a herd of cows for an...
Margaery_Tyrell That location map, at least for Tywin, is incorrect. I think we need to be using that map with incredible scrutiny because there are several issues there.
Bear in mind that the chapters do not necessarily follow a linear pattern, as shown in this very well cited spreadsheet...
Thamus_Knoward Haha great minds! This is a really cool article with some drawings of typical farming tools (lol at the part with sending kids into fields to scare birds away). I think a scythe (might be too big) or rake and fork would be great for a 1x2, with sickle and flail working for a...
Just found this awesome timeline. If you want to know where I am proposing we are, it's more or less on the vertical line marked 299 (visible on the top or bottom of the line), where is says "Robb betrothed"
That's great Ric! Yes I certainly think its reasonable that there would be some fighting along the west coast of the God's Eye. Sounds like we can stick to the originally proposed date for what you'd like to see on the server.
Thanks for your input Ricardus, much appreciated. Let me try to respond to each point in turn:
1. Here is the quote you are looking for:
This is after the Battle of the Green Fork, which is 6 days after my proposed date (timeline). The areas west of the God's Eye would not have been attacked...
I've had a go at another map. It might be a nonsense to put a map together at all, because of how scattered the attacks are, but I'm sure Tywin and his main host follow some kind of path, and it's worth trying to work that out so we can help to inform a kind of "path of destruction" through the...
Thanks for your input EStoop, I made a mistake in my OP and corrected it; as you say, Jaime would still be at Riverrun on the second day of 299AC. I quite agree with your suggestion for relocating the Whispering Wood, that makes much more sense.
As for Blackwood Vale, I have to disagree on its...
In lieu of this discussion, I have started a new thread which will discuss where exactly our server is on the timeline.
Also wanted to put Chester Castle as inspiration for Maidenpool (or other castles). That castle yard would definitely hold a few dragons!
Historical reconstruction
Okay, asking the big question that hasn't been answered.
When exactly is our server?
Prompted by a discussion with regards to the state of Maidenpool, I had a deep dive into the canon surrounding its events as compared to what we have built on the server.
Here is what it seems like we have...
Aww well they are very pretty Cash, we're lucky to have even a glimpse of them. As for the etchings, Thamus_Knoward is still tweaking them to get the transparency right, but he might be able to get them done before you implement the rest of the above. Here is a preview (I hope he doesn't mine me...
Sorry for the canon dump, but I was curious as to the events surrounding Maidenpool in our timeline (that is, between A Game of Thrones and A Clash of Kings). This is especially difficult because Maidenpool isn't mentioned at all in the first two books.
A Storm of Swords, Jaime.
Maidenpool is...
I think that's a great idea, it could have been an old fortification built with the intention of defending the Mander from the Ironborn trying to sail up it, in the same manner as Tilbury Fort along the Thames. Ball would effectively be the equivalent of the town of Gravesend.
Just a quick note to say that Sevenstreams has been split off from this project.
Also here are some maps which I think accurately show Robbs march through the area (red is the route south through FM, blue the route north they are forced to take when the bridges wash out).
Text for reference...
Done! Ah don't worry Ark, I was just trying to @ you. The article is great btw, thanks for submitting it. We will change the status as completed and include the completion date when you announce it as such on the project thread.
