The Spring 2023 edition of The Rookery is now out! Take a look to see the latest builds, guides, progress and development updates on the upcoming 1.18.2 switch. You can read it here:
Regarding the comments in server chat: Nuggets , these sorts of sassy, unconstructive, and derogatory remarks are not appropriate. You should know better, especially because you yourself were recently upset by similar in-game remarks by another user. If you feel the size of a build is an issue...
The PSD would be helpful - I might play around a bit more with making white-mortared versions, since I think that helped with the transition color-wise.
Hey jor_san,
Thanks for the application! Unfortunately, the house you made isn't really up to the standards we look for on the server - I think you need to spend some more time exploring and studying some of the recent projects on our server, and trying your hand at making houses in the styles...
Hey ChugChugBug
Thanks for being patient! Glad to see your interest in the server.
Overall your house is a step in the right direction, and a big improvement over your previous submission. The interiors in particular seem much more realistic this time. However, there's still a ways to go...
The clothesline texture also needs to be revamped in general - the probability of getting the same texture multiple times in a row is too high, and it seems like some people think some of the tiles are better than others, which leads people’s interiors to be ‘dependent’ on the random tiles they...
Interesting request. I think it should be easy enough to change the block model, like we did for wall blocks. However, I worry about cases where people use the bark wood fences for things other than trees. Maybe it won't be an issue - in cases where people mix oak bark fences with wood plank...
I’ll ultimately leave this up to Veggie and Arkilstorm ‘s discretion, since they’re the ones who’ll be developing the style using this block. My feeling is just that it’ll be awkward to use the block in practice along with our current Doku-esque textures. I don’t think it’ll be a good experiment...
I'd rather not forestall the update with the pink brick textures, though, since Veg and Ark are depending on them to make progress on their respective projects. Any large-scale texture revamp should be an update unto itself, and would need to be extensively tested by the public and tweaked...
I've generally been a bit cautious about introducing textures with art styles noticably different from the overall feel of the pack (which is essentially a highly retouched Doku style) in a piecemeal fashion - I feel that if there's a general desire to revitalize the pack with a new art style...
Sorry, missed this.
I just took another look - I think you ought to halve the width of the bit of the Kingsroad going through your project (to about 7-8 blocks); the whole thing is a bit too wide right now, even for a major road. The mods have talked about uniformly fixing this in the future...
We made an effort to kill off that use of the block ages before the texture was changed, and I'm not personally familiar with any uses of it since then. So I think it would only be present in very old builds.
Seems reasonable, and I trust the Snowy North team to take care of updating them after they went all-out with the snowy spruce leaves. Moved to the in-progress subforum.
Looking great Tham! Seeing it in the images though, I'm wondering it it might be better to go in the less decorated direction, or perhaps a third direction which would be to make the circumscribed heptagon a simple bevel. The corners and solid edges currently make it look like a metallic plate...
I'd like to replace them myself in the bits of the KL catacombs that I did, though this should wait until after the remaster is pasted back in. Help updating other areas would definitely be appreciated, though.
Is the version shown in the screenshots above the current texture, Cash? I think the shading might still need some adjustment (particularly the black shading in-between the bones in the ordered variant, which is a bit too dark). This seems like a reasonable addition that can be updated in...
Okay, seems perfectly reasonable to me then, assuming the change doesn't negatively impact existing builds (I don't see a reason why it would). I'll move this to in-progress.
