Hey guys,
Hey ViserysII,
I really like your efforts to maintain the current project and go for an update instead of a redo. Great stuff!
The tests look good (though tbf I haven't really delved deep into the local style lately).
However, I noticed all the house tests, the hovels in particular, have chimneys.
I'd suggest a low class house style without a chimney as you'd find in Brightwater Keep and it's surroundings.
Since they're leading the surrounding projects, maybe Marge and the Oldtown leads could give some pointers for the style too?
Make sure to keep a backup of the original castle somehwere before you update it.
Approved by me in any case!
Alright Stoop, I'll paste it into test world as soon as I get started. I didn't notice Marg had made houses without chimneys, in Hammerhal, pretty much all houses have one so I didn't pay much attention to that, but don't worry, I'll make sure to take a look in BW and make a test or two without it to see how it turns out, thanks for letting me know. And yes I've had a chat with Marg, and they've given me some advice we'll work more closely from now on to ensure a smooth transition between our projects. Also, thanks for the approval I won't let you down!
Lovely stuff Vis!
I have some feedback with the house style. I think it would be a good idea to work in some shapes and stylistic elements seen in the OT Sprawl that has/is being worked on. Namely some shallower rooves, arches, arcades etc. I also think having more brown rooves would help transition nicer than the current black slate. When you’ve got the oranges, browns and red-oranges of OT next to the blue-black slate it raises some questions about why two neighboring projects have different roof materials when there’s not really a reason.
I also wonder whether working in a slightly warmer gradient with plaster would help as well. Let me know your thoughts.
Here are some potential style inspiration pictures to help illustrate my point.

Oh boy, I love these pictures Jake!
They'll certainly be of much use as inspiration. I'll run some tests based on the feedback you and Aeks gave me, I even made a pallete using the brownish plasters having in mind the areas bordering OT you can check it out on the app, tho I don't want to overuse it because I think it kinda stands out too much compared to the rest. And I'll probably ask an opinion to someone on the ot team as Stoop mentioned to see what they think as well. On the usage of blue slate, I gotta be honest I'm not a huge fan of it either, I kept it out of respect to the design Tsar once chose tho I do agree with you that maybe using brown slate instead of blue for Honeyholt (such as I did in Hammerhal btw) might make more sense after all.
Appreciated the feedback guys!
