westeroscraft won't launch

Hi, I installed the launcher last night and it wouldn't work, and after some investigation, I thought the problem was that my java was out of date. So updated java to the current version on the java page (version 171), and it appears that the launcher doesn't want to use the new version, as the error message I get is "cannot run program C:\Program files(x86)\Java\jre\1.8.0_31\bin\javaw.exe

Am I wrong? If I am, can anyone indicate what the problem might be?

ok, solved that problem, but now have another problem. I think minecraft forge is interfering due to the new error message I'm getting.



Edit, figured out how to remove forge, but problem still remains. The text of it is "RuntimeException: java.lang.Runtime Exception: Patcher expecting non empty class data file for net.minecraft.crash.CrashReport$1, but received empty, your vanilla jar might be corrupt."

Any ideas what the solution might be?
