In what country are you living?
United States

Where did you first hear about WesterosCraft?

What do you like the most about GoT/ASoIaF?
I enjoy the characters. With such a large cast of characters, each one manages to feel like a unique individual. After my last reread, Brienne of Tarth has become my favorite character.

What is your favorite build on our server?
From everything I've seen so far, I like White Harbor the most. The contrast between the Wolf's Den and the New Castle is interesting, and I enjoy wandering the streets.

Why do you want to join our server?
I've been on and off visiting the server for a few years and never felt like I had the time to actively take part. Since I've finished school I figure now would be a good time to join.

Hey Qwarkl! Nice work with the app house! I see no major issues with it. With this build we hope you catched some of the techniques and ways we have of building here. Now your task will be to build other houses in the style of different locations in our server, but this time instead of copying you will have to come up with a design of your own based on the characteristics of the area we tell you.

Your next challenge will be to build a farmer's house in the style of /warp sdham1, with a yard. You can also check /warp sdham2 or /warp sdham3 for additional inspo, they all follow the same style. Once you are done you can upload some screenshots here and I will evaluate them as soon as I can. Have fun!

Hey Qwarkl! Great build overall! I can see you catched the essence of the style quite easily. I have few points to comment but I will give you some feedback nevertheless:
  • My major comment is that the house lacks a bit of wear and tear, details basically. Although the base is good I think it could be improved with the addition of things like a small hole in the roof or a piece of thacht that droops a little, a small crack at the corner of the house, maybe some moss, a yard wall a bit more uneven... Don't overdo it, people still take care of their homes.
  • The gradient of the house can be improved a bit. For the most part the basics are there (each block touching the ones right before and after on the palette only). This is something you will grasp once you are actively working here so don't think too much about it.
  • Usually dirt floors inside houses are represented with a mix of dirt and gravel.
  • Try to keep thacht at floors clumped together, almost like it was a carpet/rug.
As you can see these are pretty minor things, you did nicely! For your next challenge go to /warp duskendale and build a house with a yard and a profession. Have fun!

Hi, thanks for the feedback. I think I've incorporated your points in this new build. I've built a spice merchant's house. I found a few different styles when looking around the town, but I took the majority of inspiration from one particular street.

I've noticed your house looks oodly similar to one that can be found in our server. It is not a perfect copy, but the layout is almost the same and the location of most of the furnishing is identical or slightly shuffled around. While you should be inspired by the style of an area, replicating a build so closely is not something we are looking for. Having said that, I would like you to try again and build another house in the Duskendale style with a yard and a profession, this time trying to come up with your own design rather than using an existing house as a template.
