I find it odd that they position King's Landing at the equator. Shouldn't that be Dorne? And they pretty much ignore Sothoryos.

More than likely the equator of Planetos is not shown in the current maps we got since we haven't even seen the full extent of Sothoryos

Possible cause of the odd seasons is the same as the birth of dragons told by Doreah to Dany. That there were 2 moons but one cracked open and from the split came the dragons. Could the loss of the second moon have caused the odd seasons?

Isn't it mentioned in a world of ice and fire that a dragonlady of Old Valyria tried to find how far south it extended. She was gone for several weeks and said she hadn't found an end? I think thats in there. If not its from some semi-cannon source
