Hey Marios,
Thanks for your interest in the server and glad to see you're a fan of the Game of Thrones series (nice skin!).
You're on the right track with this house, I can see you've put thought into the house and explored the server for inspiration and there's a lot of nice ideas and elements.
The shape and overall style is close to some of houses you might see in the Reach, so you've done well to emulate that style. The stone palette is nice looks nice and symmetrical and there's a good consistency with the color of type of stone used.

I've just got a handful of suggested improvements that'll help with your future builds.

- We tend not to use the flatter slab style of roof as you've done here, here's a guide on the most common roof shape/blocks.
1592899142199.png

- Nice effort with the diagonal shape of the house, diagonals can be tricky, you've almost got it right except for the end walls. Here's how we typically plot out diagonals:

Otherwise I like what you've done with adding small details to the house. The cart outside is nice and on the whole you've shown restraint with the kinds of blocks you'd most commonly see in a low class farming house.
We usually only use glass cabinets in high class houses, and try to avoid trapdoors, they can usually be substituted for half doors/wooden slabs.

For your first challenge build, please make a Low Class Farmer's house in the style of /warp hawthornetown and share screenshots of it in this thread. Take note of commonalities between the houses (block mix, shape of roof, size of house, interior blocks, attic spaces, mezzanine platforms) and make a house that would fit into the Hawthorne town.

Also take a look this page for some more points and examples that will help on future builds.

https://forum.westeroscraft.com/wiki/basic-building-guide-for-applicants/

Please take your time to study the style in detail, and make sure to ask if you have any questions on the above feedback or the hawthornetown style.

Good luck!

Hi, I have just finished my first challenge i hope u like it! I tried to use all of your suggestions and they really paid of! explored the area of hawthornetown and build the farmer's house. I think i did a great job even tho i am quite unfamiliar with these type of houses. Even if it's not good enough i would like to hear what you think and improvements i could do in future buildings!
I might have made it a little bigger from what i had imagined but i hope it's good!

Hey Marios,
Great work with this Hawthorne house, you've nailed all the important elements.
Except, the use of the grey bricks in base stone brick mix - I think you'll find that houses in Hawthorne only use the lannisport/sandstone bricks (as you've used on the chimney). We try to keep a consistency in brick colors, thinking about where they would source the bricks in the area and all that.

Otherwise the interior and exterior details all look great and consistent with the Hawthorne style. As a small note, it's often nice to add a few random grass/shrub blocks in the vegetable patches to add a bit of variety and realism.

For your next challenge, please build a middle class house in the style of /warp whsprawl (the houses around the outside of the main walls of the city). Houses in large towns will usually have a profession on their on the ground floor, take a look at the styleguide at the /warp oldstyleguides and the finished houses in the White Harbor area for inspiration, and give the house some kind of profession that would make sense in White Harbor (e.g. carpenter/cooper/blacksmith/boat builder, netmaker etc).

Goodluck!

I finished the second challenge, it was a bit tricky but i think i nailed it (i didnt decorate the sides and the back of the house as i like to think that there will be houses touching eachother.)

Thanks Marios, this house is looking very nice.
You've done well with capturing the White Harbor style and I like all the blacksmith details.
Only a few small notes:

The classic White Harbor roof tips are almost right,
1593665375361.png

Here's how it's usually done.
1593666086723.png
1593666226295.png

We also generally don't use armor stands (since they're entity blocks that behave weirdly sometimes), and it hasn't snowed in White Harbor yet based on our Server timeline so I'd just use regular spruce leaves instead of the snowy spruce leaves.

I'd just caution against using painting/banner/glass blocks too often, I don't think it's a particular problem in this house since it could be justifiable in a middle class town house, but wouldn't be very common otherwise

For your (tentatively) final challenge, please build a middle class house in the style of Highgarden, (take a look around /warp hgtown ). As with this White Harbor house, it should have a profession/business on the bottom level e.g. carpenter/wine merchant/tailor/blacksmith, and a yard would be great as well.

Thanks!
