The Spring 2023 edition of The Rookery is now out! Take a look to see the latest builds, guides, progress and development updates on the upcoming 1.18.2 switch. You can read it here:
It makes sense to me that this would be the kind of landscape west of the Frostfangs, especially as mammoths weren’t really a forest creature so where would the Giants be otherwise?
This dirty test is looking beautiful Dutch! I love it! (might steal the mixture for some roads elsewhere hehe)
I like the raised version most, but also that brings to mind, how are we presenting the causeway? It surely needs to be above the water level. Does that mean its a levy? Should that...
Only thing I am worried about the steep angle of some of those plots. I'd say have more unangled plots.
You only have one unangled plot and its a bit unusual. Yes, angles are visually interesting but you can also make unangled plots visually interesting too!
What I'd recommend is making the barn...
I'd say we want a dirt road rather than a pebbly road. for one part, the pebbles (gravel stand in?) would work best under a layer of packed dirt where they cannot be removed or shifted as easily while also enabling the surface to drain, rather than to become as marshy as the land around it.
If this is going ahead, isn't Mega_Taiga identical to Taiga atm? If so, would it be possible to have a Beyond the Wall specific variant?
Furs, patchleather, very little cloth and so on.
Are there going to be any raised bogs? These form over time from a build up of plant matter and could be present further in land. Large enough ones can be colonised by trees and held together. Pines particularly do this iirc
Can I also add on a request to have a version with Muddy Snow texture on the top side? That way we can have a little more versatility in terms of look. Or another option is to make a few slight alterations to the snow to make it seem like there is thatch underneath?
Hey, just going to ask you here to please redo the forests, please. Burley is in NP2 and so uses ancient wolfswood schems and has irregular snow patterns, weird breaks and other issues that make applying any kind of update more painful than it is worth. Please, if you can, clear the area and...
I'd argue that curtains currently used in the north are a practical solution to the climate and so would probably arisen. Interior shutters covered by a fur sounds warmer to me than either or. With drystone structures in Norrey I tried to have heavy furs covering windows where I thought it would...
Looking good! For some reason this never pinged me so it’s my first time seeing a continuation of the thread.
Tham, while these look beautiful the most important thing about this block is that it allows northern builds to have exposed thatch in their ceilings.
I’d be satisfied with something...
Can I please implore that builders not use Brochs in the Gift's grasslands east of the mountains. They're a Northern Mountains thing. :p Johan's immersion is in the mountains
Hey, I've just came across a bit of lore/canon that is pretty important. I remember the Street of Sisters being described as 'straight as an arrow' and so looked into it more. Jaeharys essentially bulldozed a lot of twisty streets and houses to do some urban planning and restoration like good...
Hi Inverted winger, just some feedback, why would the outer houses be clustered around an interior, Also, wouldn't it make more sense if they were spread along the road? Maybe with the tithe barn a little way off the road as it would have been built after the hamlet came together?
Some food for...
Remember with the Nightfort that Deeplake has no lake south of the wall, and because of that there is more room for buildings and gift space.
Also, reclaiming the land taken by Deeplake's noncanon lake would make it easier to have the grasslands and bog described as being around the nightfort...
So Norman Kite Shields for 1x2 blocks and bucklers/round shields for 1x1? Sounds good.
For biome variants, would Birch_Forest and Plains instead get heater shields for 1x1?
Just to add my two cents,
I think that 'Dornish peppers' actually includes both Capsicum and chilli, so that the stuffed peppers are like actual stuffed capsicums while snap peppers and dragon peppers are more like IRL chilli.
Might be too much to ask for both a capsicum sized one and a chilli...
