What do you like the most about GoT/ASoIaF?
The in-depth world. I like Star Wars for the same reason, but I prefer GoT's world due to the time period, like skyrim.

What is your favorite build on our server?
King's Landing. I like it's humongous size, intricacy, and accuracy to the books and tv show.

Why do you want to join our server?
I enjoy GoT and I want to contribute to the project before its completion. Also there's a few bad builds I'd like to improve on given the chance.

Hey Cosmicide,

Thanks for applying for builder, I'm looking forward to seeing how you develop over these build challenges to join the team :)

Good job with your application house, looks solid to me. Cute skin!

Your first challenge should you choose to accept it is to build a house in the /warp Duskendale style. Take some time to explore the nature of building town houses, compared to example the rural low class house you built for your first challenge.

Good luck,

The idea with the locked doors and cabinet in the wall is they'd be covered up by the next house's walls btw

Hey Drybomber, sorry for my long reply I've been super busy.

A good effort, and a solid improvement. I have some issues you'll need to reflect on in your next build, but you're close to being at server standard.

I think your exteriors are largely good in the whole, but your detailing has let you down. The gradient you've used isn't so much a gradient as the blocks used randomly. Gradients should, unless specified, go from darker blocks to lighter blocks moving upwards. I think the dark brown sandstone block is used very sparingly at Duskendale, if at all.

The fence/wall blocks detailing on the facade is rough; I rarely see wooden fence blocks used in this way any more, but a detailed facade with the stone wall blocks could have been successful. At duskendale the jettying (the overhang) is pretty simple primarily using wooden slabs and stairs. Also your support for the sign is unncessarily large when we have access to chain blocks or just putting a carpet atop the sign.

Your daub pattern is also in need of work. You should err more on the side of simplicity rather than the random pattern you've used. The asymmetry on the front of the house is further highlighted by the two wide windows. Just try and keep things simple. I find it best to use the diagonal daub timber blocks to follow the roof line, and then have a simple pattern beneath.

There are lots of examples of daub and wattle patterning across the server, so do familiarise yourself with these in the future.

Your interiors are solid, but at times I think err on the side of 'too busy'-- I think it's noticeable most in the ground floor room where the table area looks very cramped and busy with the coins, plate of food, and paper block.

I think some things demonstrate a lack of thought about block usage and again contribute to a 'busy' look inside. Grapes at the side of the bed for example; handy if your homeowner is a grape addict but otherwise probably best kept in a storage space or the kitchen.

You should reflect more on your usage of the roof attic space too. Grain would've been heavy in a basket to lift up that ladder so try and keep attic furnishings reasonable.

For your next challenge build me a wine merchant in the /warp Tumbleton style.

Good luck

Hi Drybomber,

A real improvement, well done.

Like Diitsei I think you're at the point where any improvements are going to come with working with your probation leader to iron out some tiny detailing choices (trapdoors, clunky furnishings at times etc.)

I'm pleased to welcome you too to the build team, congratulations!
